Founded and led by Managing Partner Juan Esquer, who brings more than 30 years of experience in private banking, wealth management, and capital markets following senior roles at Guggenheim Partners (Madrid and Geneva), GBS Finanzas, and Quadriga Asset Managers, UNQ operates from offices in Madrid. Esquer holds a PhD in Finance from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and an International MBA from IE Business School.
UNQ invests roughly 80% of its portfolio in alternative markets, including commercial and residential real estate, battery energy storage systems, sustainable lithium mining, nanomaterials, and venture capital. Its venture capital strategy focuses on global funds in marketplaces and software with AI applied to healthcare, with commitments including LifeX Ventures and FJ Labs.
